Cary Goins Obituary

The beautiful life of Brother Cary Vincent Goins began on August 9, 1964 when he was born to Leo Goins and Geraldine Harris Goins in Detroit, MI. He was the youngest child of Leo and Geraldine. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cary was educated in the Detroit Public School System. Cary dedicated his like to god at a young age, attending True Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James H. Morton. Do to a different road in life, Cary studied Islam and saw the unity of both faiths. Later in age, he joined Greater Emmanuel Church under the leadership of Pastor Brian J. Watkins, but was not an active member at his time of passing.

Cary’s love for cooking led him to the industry of Culinary Arts. He held various jobs in that field throughout the state, to name a few: Marriott Hotel, Copper Canyon, Firewater, Red Robin, Little Caesars Arena, and Andiamo, which led him to leave town and work in Las Vegas for a short time.

Cary’s second trade was carpentry. He was very gifted in this area which he learned from his uncle Robert, but that was not his passion.

On March 29, 2021, Cary received his summons and went home to be with the lord, having shared a beautiful and leaving a rich and storied legacy with his family and friends. Cary will always be with us as long as we remember the jokes, stories, the cooking and I cannot let this go without saying his love for Seagram’s Gin.

His memory will be forever cherished by: his brother Dwain of Detroit; sister: Dawn Lisa of Louisiana; uncle: Robert Harris (Barbara); three nieces; Tiffany (Trevor), Vera, and LaTosha; three nephews: James, Justin, and Dajuan (abby); nine great nieces: Miyhra, Ms’treveona, Takura, Tiara, Treasure, A’Miyhra, Samiya, Janiya, and Zania; three great nephews: Semaj, Braylon, and Christian. Cary had a special bond with many but a few that stood out was James, Troy, Man, Derrick, Kurt, Billy (a lifelong childhood friend he reconnected with in 2011), Arnetha, who he fondly called “My Wife” and a host of cousins and friends.
