Joe Flint Obituary

Joe Louis Flint of Detroit, Michigan passed away on Friday, May 14th, 2021, at the age of 67. After battling the Coronavirus, Joe died at DMC Sinai Grace Hospital a few hours after loved ones said their virtual goodbyes.

Joe was born to the late Marvin and Elizabeth (Butler) Flint, on November 22, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a lifelong resident of Detroit and attended the Detroit Public School system until he went on to work at Mount Elliot Tool and Die Plant, and as a painter until he became disabled.

Joe’s favorite saying was “God is Good”. As a child he attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ and continued to keep his faith throughout his life.

Joe was married to Diane Price, who helped him with one of his biggest accomplishments in life, becoming a father. He loved his four daughters and cared for his family even though they lived apart from him. Joe continued to pray for God to keep them safe and out of harm’s way.

Joe enjoyed fishing, playing Poker, Pokeno, Bingo, horse racing, and throwing big holiday dinners with all the family. Although, Joe was not a twin; he would tell people that his predeceased sister, Albertha, was his twin. The two of them enjoyed hanging out together and are reunited once again.

Joe had countless relatives and friends that he was always willing to give a helping hand to. Like her uncle, his special niece, LaTonya Ridley devoted her time and love to her uncle Joe. She and his other niece and nephew, Cristal and little Melvin Flint was there for him whenever he needed them. They helped his daughters by caring for him and keeping a watchful eye. They will truly miss their uncle.

Joe is survived by: his former wife, Diane Price; his four daughters, Lisa Marie (Flint) Prude and spouse Obbie (Butch) Prude, Diamietta De’Elenora Flint, Mary Elizabeth Flint and Joanna Victoria Flint; his thirteen grandchildren, Daron Green, Joe Louis Flint, Jeremiah Knighton, Myeasha Henry, Tyree Cauley, Twyla Cauley, Tryston Cauley, Tiara Cauley, Ted Williams III, Mariah Odum, Treasure Cauley, Samuel Prude and Tyron Cauley; and his three great-grandchildren, Serenity Mc-Beth Green, Natavion Robinson, and Aniyah Green. All are of Connecticut.

In addition, Joe leaves to mourn: six sisters, Rosa Cherry, Thelma Flint, Lacreasha McCloud, Catherine Reynolds, Mattie Hamby, and Darlene Flint; three brothers, Gregory Hamby, William Edmond and Joe Edmond; a brother-in-law Sheldon Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Flint and Elizabeth (Butler) Flint; six siblings, Albertha (Flint) Ridley, Caroline (Flint) Moore, Cecil Flint, Melvin Flint, Alberta Flint and Massie Flint; and two brothers-in-law Carlos Ridley and Clell Moore.
