Theadoris Yvonne Weaver was born June 6, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the oldest daughter of the late Julia L. and Calvin L, Tolbert Sr. On February 7, 2024, God called for her from her earthly home to gain her wings and her crown.
Educated in the Detroit Public School System, Theadoris graduated from Northeastern High School in 1961. Theadoris attended Marygrove College where she earned an Associate of Science Degree in December 1988 and Bachelor of Arts Degree in May 1993. She holds Certifications in Electrocardiogram, Echocardiogram Technology and a Certified Cardiovascular Technologist. She met the standards and became a member of the Michigan Cardiology Technologists Association. No stranger to healthcare, she began working in the field in 1966 as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Through hard work, commitment, and dedication she became the Manager of the Cardiology department at Mercy Hospital later becoming Samaritan Health Center where she worked 34 years until the hospital closed in 2001. Before retiring due to health reasons, she spent over 37 years in healthcare.
Theadoris met and married Thomas Ross in 1962. To this union a son, Thomas II and daughter, Angela was born. Theadoris loved her children and grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye. One of the joys of her life was spending time with her family. She loved traveling to Virginia each summer to care for her grandchildren and going to the Great Lakes Mega Meet Scrapbooking Convention with her daughter and granddaughter. She used her crafting hobby to send personalized and handmade cards.
Theadoris accepted Christ at an early age, joining Friendship Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and serving. As a faithful and lifetime member of Friendship Baptist Church she served in many capacities which includes Treasurer, Trustee, Mother’s Board, Choir Member, Assistant Church Secretary, Personnel Committee, Member of the Michigan Progressive Baptist Choir (MPBC) and many more. She was devoted to Lord and doing his work. She also attended, Greater Walters AME Zion Church in Newport News faithfully every summer and while visiting family in Virginia.
Theadoris was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Calvin, brothers, Charles Weaver Reginald Weaver, Jonathan Tolbert, a sister Carroll Tolbert and a special niece, Kenya Alana Tolbert Walker. She leaves to cherish her loving memory and legacy, son, Thomas (Dione) Ross II and daughter, Angela (John) Teamer; grandchildren, Juwan (Arriayne) Teamer, Jenai Teamer, Sydney Ross, and Brandon Ross; great grandson, Orion Teamer; one sister, Katherine Sutton; one brother, Calvin Tolbert Jr., and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends along with Friendship Baptist Church and Greater Walters AME Zion Church families.
